We interpret reality through stories we receive from our family, community, and nation. There is no correlation between objective reality and what people believe. It’s an approximation, an attempt to synthesize experience and awareness into symbols and structure.
People identify themselves with the structure of their beliefs. At all times, everywhere I go, a story about life informs my values and decisions. All the books, facts, and stats will fade in memory but stories remain. Within an architecture of sustained belief we inhabit the world.
Ultimately, our stories are about relationships, the rules and expectations of a social being. Your idea of your relationship to the world determines how you act within it. Social structure will not change without the agreement of individuals. Everyone has a different perspective. The living story is love.
