by Arthur Smid

The quick fox jumps over a lazy dog
With every letter of the alphabet
Following the discovery of tablets
Delivered a letter to society
Borrowed and pagan.
Sex, love, monsters,
Whores, friendships, battles,
More sex,
More battles,
And the search
For truth and disillusionment.

In the temple library
And palace ruins of Nineveh,
Adam and Eve’s descendants
Resemble the lists of early kings,
Unearthed in the ruins of Nineveh,
Buried under centuries of sand
In Jonah and the Whale.
It was a large fish
But that’s another story.

Harsh facts do intrude.
Isn’t that novel!
