ORIGINAL NATURE

by Arthur Smid

A white horse on prairies,
One speaks, it is evening.
She sings from the meadow,
A light on the window.

In shadow as water,
All children to sleep.
Their hands on their chest
To fly further tonight.

Airships and railways,
Machines when they flutter,
Women make progress.
Love is in and

They chain themselves to railings
On Buckingham Palace,
Suffrage in Manchester
Eighteen-sixty-five.

Lifting her with wind rush
The earthrise all maiden
With animals in space
To fly further tonight.

Kitchens and children,
Mothers all hovering,
The men make progress.
Love is in and on

Cobblestones horses clip clopping,
One speaks, it is evening.
