GOOD NIGHT

by Arthur Smid

We made the Earth our bed,
Folded in the ground.
We sleep here or there:
We are both and everywhere.

On the other side,
Where the light is good,
A midnight sun is day,
When you say goodnight.

If you know the way,
You love always.
If you show the way,
I’ll come to you today.

We make the Earth a shroud,
Awake in fossil fuel.
We live here or there:
We are both and everywhere.

You taught me how to drive,
How do I know where?
Until I see a light,
When will you arrive?

If you know the way,
I love you today,
As the sun shines
Always.
